Electric kettles use the mains wall outlet to power the Base.
The base requires a cable to channel electricity from the mains outlet and this movement of electricity heats the coil and water, bringing it to a boil.
Check the base of your kettle for holes or corrosion, especially near the folded joints between the base and the body of the kettle. If the base has stopped powering up or you hear a clicking sound when you switch on the power, then the base needs to be replaced.
